IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Frances
Mattingly
November 9, 1940 – July 26, 2024
On Friday, July 26, 2024, Mary Francis Mattingly went to her eternal home, surrounded by her children and granddaughter, Haylee.
Mary was born on November 9, 1940, in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Joe and Laura West. Mary resided in Monticello for most of her long life where she and John West began a family. Mary was a devoted Mother and in her younger years looked forward to Sunday picnics with her children, nieces, and nephews. She was a Mother to all around her.
Mary held many roles in her life, however, her most cherished ones were the titles of Momma and Granny. She held profound pride for her three children; Brenda, Jack, and Brandon, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many traditions were centered around Mary, a family favorite being Christmas Eve breakfasts with her famous chocolate gravy and time spent reminiscing over stacks of carefully curated photo albums. She was the keeper of so many memories and the family will continue to cherish her own.
Mary enjoyed attending Church and reading scripture. She was a woman of deep faith and her devotion to the Lord was always present and palpable. She was also never far from one of her beloved "pups." Her chihuahua, Sophie, brought her immense companionship and plenty of laughter.
Mary is survived by her Brother, Charlie West (Bell); Sister, Betty West; Daughter, Brenda Fitzwater (Richard); Son, Jack West (Mary); Son, Brandon Mattingly (Sara); Granddaughter, Jacklan Marsh (Brad); Grandson, Jackie West; Granddaughter, Taylor West (Chris); Granddaughter, Haylee Mattingly; Great-grandchildren, Grayson and Riley Marsh; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her Brothers, Cosby West and Oliver West; and her Sisters, Eula Huddleson, Bertha Gibson, and Louise Keith.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at noon at Elk Spring Cemetery shelterhouse.
Memorials and condolences may be sent to Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky.
Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
