Mary Marcum was born August 3, 1938, and departed this life Tuesday, July 8, 2025, reaching the age of 86 years. She was the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Flora Mae (Winchester) Markham.
She married William Howard Marcum, and to this union, six children were born.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmie Marcum (Vickie), Thomas Marcum (fiancé, Vicki Slaven), and David Marcum (fiancé, Patty Grant); three daughters, Sandra Dobbs, Debbie Marcum (Terry Corder), and Tiala Atkinson; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren with 1 on the way. She is also survived by one sister, Marcella (John) Hudson, and one sister-in-law, Yvonne Marcum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Marcum; three brothers, Paul Marcum, Henry Douglas Marcum, and Ronald Kay Marcum; two sisters, Christine Williams and Betty Bowden; and one great-granddaughter, Aniyah Hunter.
Mary was a long-time member of New Hope Baptist Church. She retired from Kerr Glass Manufacturing Corporation and moved back to Monticello, and worked at Golden Years Nursing Home for ten years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Sandusky Cemetery.
