Mary Mattie Lou Hendrickson, the daughter of Eula Garth and Edward Jones (preceded in death) was born May 7, 1918 in Monticello, KY and departed this life on Wednesday, May 5, 2004.
Mattie confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized at Pleasant View Baptist Church of Monticello, KY. She later joined the Danville Second Street Christian Church where she was a very faithful and active member. She loved singing in the choir, cooking and serving dinners and visiting with friends and family at the church and in her home. Her favorite song was "Precious Lord, Take My Hand."
She was the devoted wife of Claude Hendrickson who preceded her in death.
She is survived by three sons: Cecil Ray (Shirley) Garth and James Garth of Monticello, KY, and Richard (Cindy) Garth of Cincinnati, OH. Three daughters: Mary Christina Stella Garth of Monticello, KY, Dorothy Garth of Lexington, KY and Margie (Billy) Doyte of Monticello, KY. Two half-sisters: Verna (Bill) Burnett of Monticello, KY and Hattie Ellen (Pastor Love) Love of Muncie, IN.
Mattie was blessed with nine grandchildren: Katy (Donald) Duncan and Bobby (Leida) Garth of Monticello, KY(both preceded in death), Leon John Garth of Louisville, KY, Charlotte Ann Garth of Lexington, KY, Marilyn (Walter) Brown of Radcliff, KY, Geneva "Jennifer" Garth of Florence, KY, Lamont Garth of Monticello, KY, Kyle Lamont Gart and Richard Raymond Garth of Cincinnati, OH. Her legacy will live on through her twenty great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
Mattie (Mom) will also live on in the hearts of a host of friends, relatives and especially her two daughter-in-laws, Shirley and Cindy Garth, who knows they were blessed to have such a sweet and appreciative "Mom" who knew how to say "now I ain't got nothing to do with that, that's ya'll business" and "you got a good wife, you'd better treat her right."
Visitation: Monticello - Friday, May 7 between the hours of 7 - 8 PM in the funeral home chapel. Danville - Saturday, May 8 between the hours of 11 - 1 at Second Street Christian Church
