Mary Elizabeth Gehring was born December 22, 1935 in Oil Valley and passed away Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016, at her home in Monticello. She was 80 years old.

On December 24, 1954, she married the love of her life, Donald Parker Gehring of Monticello. They were married for 52 years before his passing on May 8, 2007. To this union three children were born - Johnny and his wife Barbara Gehring of Monticello, Melinda Gehring of Monticello and Thom Gehring of Austin, Texas.

Also surviving are her grandchildren - Chad and wife Brooke Gehring, Megan and husband Knox Bertram, Tye and wife Ashley Gehring and Austin Gehring. In addition, Mary is survived by five great¬ grandchildren - Peyton Gehring, Parker Gehring, Charlie Gehring, Wilson Gehring and Marlee Bertram.

After 7 years of bookkeeping for both Correll & Johnson and Cooper & Ramsey, Mary became a homemaker where she and her husband raised three kids and cared for her mother, Myrta, for thirty years.

Mary was a lifelong member of Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. Some of Mary's most cherished times in her later years were with the Adult Senior Group at ESVBC. She found great joy in spending time and talking with her dear church friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 19, 2016 after 5pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2016 at 11am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
