Mary E. Dotson was born on February 1, 1943, and departed this life Sunday, December 29, 2024, reaching the age of 81 years. She was the daughter of (the late) George and Ruby (Harris) Whitt.

She married Ray Dotson and to this union, seven children were born.

She is survived by four sons, Steve (Bonnie) Dotson, Roger Dotson, Kenneth Ray Dotson, and George (Tammy) Whitt, Jr.; two daughters, Barbara Wurgler, and Mary Margaret Church; three brothers, Clarence Whitt of McCar, KY, George Whitt of Tompkinsville, NC, and Elmer Whitt of Monticello; one sister, Daryl (Doug) Blackburn of Ransom, KY; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; best friend, June Upchurch; special friend/sister, Byrd Bell; and Sharon Edwards (Sis); along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ray Hartford Dotson; one son, Rodney Dotson; one sister, Loretta Smith; one grandson, Derek Green; and special friends, Odie & Gladys Hollars.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, relative, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 3, 2025, between 5 pm and 8 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Piney Woods Mission Church Cemetery.
