Obituary

Mary Francis Chesney Taylor, 93, of Tifton, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 13, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Mrs. Taylor will be laid to rest at Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funeral from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service. There will be a service for Mrs. Taylor in Monticello, Kentucky on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Monticello, Kentucky with the Rev. Joe Tipton officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Mary Francis Chesney Taylor was born Nov 18, 1929, in Monticello, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Josh and Flora Chesney. She married William J. Taylor on January 1, 1951, and worked for South Kentucky RECC for 26 years before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years; three brothers, Cicero, Jess, and Jim Chesney; one sister, Ruth C. Slater; son-in-law, John Nash; two nephews, David Slater and Billy Gene Chesney; and three nieces, Ann Slater, Phil Tuttle, and Mary Ann Tuttle.

She is survived by her son, Charles R. Taylor and daughter-in-law Sandy (Tifton Ga); daughter, Martha T. Nash (Paris Ky); four grandchildren, Austin Taylor (Courtney), Nicholas Taylor (Lia), Taylor Nash Knoblett (James), and Josh Nash; and three great- grandchildren, Kai, Easton, and Aadil; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was a lifelong member of First Christian Church in Monticello Kentucky. While living the last few years of her life in Tifton, she found a church home at First Baptist Tifton. She also made many good friends and was involved in many social activities.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Christian Church Promise Building Fund, 80 Michigan Avenue, Monticello, KY 42633.

Services for the Taylor family are under the care and direction of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals as well as Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky.
