Mary White Burke of Monticello was born December 17, 1941 and departed this life Wednesday, July 27, 2022 reaching the age of 80 years. She was the daughter of the late John Sherod and Leva Bowlin White.
Mary married the love of her life Bobby Burke in 1957 and they were married for 65 years. Unto this union were two sons and one daughter. Mary became a Christian in her earlier years and was a life-long member of the Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. Mary loved her church family and attended and taught an Adult Sunday School Class at the Church until her failing health kept her from attending. Mary spent a lot of her life battling severe health issues but she never let this get her down and remained a strong Christian woman who kept the faith until her passing. Mary was known as a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. Mary had a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be so missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Along with her husband Bobby Burke, she is survived by two sons and one daughter; Steve (Marla) Burke, Mark (Beverly) Burke, Becky (Tim) Humble as well as Grandson; Josh (Becca) Humble, Granddaughter; Hannah Humble, three great grandchildren; Dalton Humble, Sydney Humble and Myra Burke Humble and one sister; Irene King. She was preceded in death by one brother; Arnold White four sisters; Georgia Elizabeth South, Marie Dobbs, Nelldane Arant, and Allie Gay Massengale.
The family will receive friends on Monday August 1, 2022 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel with Funeral Services on Tuesday August 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. Burial to Follow at the Elk Spring Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church or the Gideons Memorial Bible Plan.
