Martin Edgar Lester was born on March 24 ^th , 1932 in Powersburg, KY.  He was the son of the late Marvin and Flossie Grace (Hurt) Lester.

He was baptized in Jesus' name and received the Holy Ghost in 1961 at the Jesus Name Church of the Apostolic Faith.

He married the love of his life, Janet Ruth Shepherd on May 20, 1961, and to this union one child was born, Rebecca Louise Lester Maxfield.

Martin loved bluegrass music, his banjo, singing gospel hymns, and telling his many adventures of working.

He worked 9 years at Monticello Independent as a janitor and 53 years at Monticello Housing Authority as the maintenance and grounds keeper.

Martin is survived by his wife, Janet Lester; sister, Margie Lester Gibson; and son-in-law Ronald Maxfield, all of Monticello, KY.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca "Becky" Maxfield; sisters, Lois Lester, Lena Grace Lester Slagle, and brother, Lewis Lester.

Martin will be sorely missed by his wife, sister, several nieces, nephews, and all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3 ^rd , 2023, from 5-8pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home and again Tuesday, April 4 ^th , 2023, from 8am until the funeral service time at the Jesus Name Apostolic Church.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4 ^th , 2023, at 1pm at the Jesus Name Apostolic Church. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
