Marie Slagle was born September 12, 1927 and departed this life Thursday, August 19, 2010 reaching the age of 82. She was the daughter of the late William Odell and Bashell Mae (Watson) Cooper.

She was united in marriage to Edgar Slagle and to this union 7 children were born.

She is survived by: 2 sons, Jackie Slagle and Joe Slagle both of Monticello, KY; 5 daughters, Janie Flynn, Betty Leatherman, Madine Kelsay, Janice Stevens all of Monticello, KY, and Carolyn Abbott of Somerset, KY; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by: 2 sisters, Bonnie Cooper and Flonnie Cooper both of Monticello, KY; 2 brothers, Johnnie Cooper of Monticello, KY and Robert Cooper of Cleveland, OK; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, William and Bashell Cooper, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ed Slagle; 2 sisters, Irene and Ollie Cooper.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 11 am – 3:30 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 3:30 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Curtis Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
