Marie Rains was born August 25, 1916 and departed this life August 28, 2003 reaching the age of 87 years. She was the daughter of the late George Kennedy and Mary Elizabeth Guffey Kennedy.

She was united in marriage to Estil Rains and to this union 4 children were born.

She is survived by 2 sons – Eugene Rains and Ray Rains of Monticello, 2 daughters – Katherine Buck and Ruth Cowan of Monticello, 2 sisters – Artie Hurt and Roxie Burris, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren along with a host of family and friends who will mourn her passing.

She is preceded in death by her husband – Estil and her parents.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, August 29 after 5:30 pm.
Funeral Service: Funeral services will be Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment: Gap Creek Cemetery
