Marie Choate was born April 27, 1936 and departed this life Saturday, December 31, 2011 reaching the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Marie (DeWitt) Gorman.

She was united in marriage to Charlie Choate and to this union 8 children were born.

She is survived by: 1 son, Stephen Choate of Monticello, KY; 7 daughters, Carolyn Gunter of Monticello, KY, Shirley Daniels, Martha Huckaby, Joyce Jones, Janice Dishman, Lisa Daniels, and Cindy Piercy all of Monticello, KY; 24 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by: 4 sisters, Louise, Clara Davis, Josephine, and JoAnn Choate; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Ed and Dorothy Gorman, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Choate; 3 brothers, Bob, Eddie, and Herman Gorman; and 1 sister, Geraldine.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Schaeffer officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
