Mabel Phipps Cross was born December 23, 1931 and departed this life Friday, November 3, 2017 reaching the age of 85 years. She was the daughter of the late Claude and Grace (Ramsey) Phipps.

She married James "Jim" Cross and to this union three children were born.

She is survived by: 3 sons, Alan (Joyce) Cross, Larry (Velma) Cross, and Micky (Glenna) Cross; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by: 2 brothers, Johnny and Guy Russell; and 3 sisters, Georgia Duncan, Gloria Aldred, and Gay York; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Claude and Grace Phipps, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Jim Cross; 1 grandchild "Ashley Cross"; and 3 brothers, Claude Phipps, Jr., Grant and Gary Russell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 4, 2017 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5, 2017 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Old Charity Cemetery.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
