Luetilla Jane (Kendrick) Looney was born to this world on the thirteenth day of August, I the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and twenty nine in Monticello, Kentucky to James Wesley Kendrick and Ethel Marie Duncan Kendrick Clark. She was the first of four children. While Luetilla was still in her early years, her family moved to Mount Vernon, Illinois where she received her elementary and secondary education.
Luetilla or "Lu", as she was affectionately called by family and friends, enjoyed life completely. In her pastime, she relished baking especially cheese cakes. She liked to dance, dress, sew, and crochet. She belonged to the Baptist Church in Monticello, Kentucky, Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Cleveland, Ohio. Luetilla was an active member of the NAACP. Luetilla was both a wonderful and loving big sister. She cherished and always looked out for family.
Luetilla Looney made her exit from life on Monday, February 2, 2015 at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Illinois. Her husband, Noah Looney, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, John Kendrick, two sisters, Ella Kendrick and JoeCatherine Hardwick, nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2015 after 12:30 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Monticello Cemetery.
