Obituary

Lucille Koger Jones of Monticello, Kentucky was born on August 24, 1942 in Parmleysville, Kentucky.  Reaching the age of 79 passed from this life and went to be with the Lord and Master on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.  She was the daughter of Dempie Lillian Gregory Koger and Odie Marion Koger who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Paul, and Cecil Koger and four sisters, Plina Slavens, Vela Hicks, Alta Koger, and Helen Kaser. Those who survived were two sisters, Dorothy Tucker, and Lilly Mae Middleton.

She was united in marriage to Everett William Jones on May 10, 1960 who survives her. To this 61 year union there were three sons:  Daniel "Danny" William Jones, (Karla), Michael Gene Jones, (Amanda), and Ricky Lee Jones who preceded her in death as an infant. Three daughters, Brenda Lou Coffey, Melissa Ann Gunter (Pete), and Nancy Marie Morrow (Tony); and one stepdaughter, Linda Jones Byrd, late husband, Mike. Also there were seventeen grandchildren:  Lance Coffey, Adam Coffey, Jenny Johnson, Brandi Wallace, Charles Yancy, Kalissa Gregory, Christy Thurman, Lucy Roberts, Jonathan Jones, Roger Jones, Corey Jones, Megan Jones Crabtree, Ricky Swager, Jessica Spradlin, Adam Swager, Anthony Morrow and Travis Morrow. There were also twenty-five great grandchildren – one deceased, Trevor Coffey and four great-great grandchildren and two on the way. She has left behind several loved nieces and nephews.

She was a loving, caring, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many who new her, who will be very dearly missed. She gave her life to the Lord and Jesus Christ in 1974, where she became faithful and long-time member of over forty years at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She later moved her membership to Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she remained until her health did not allow her to attend.  Lucille devoted her life to the Lord, her husband, and family. Although she is gone from our presence, she will remain in our hearts forever. She was a homemaker who loved her flowers, gardening, being outside and making quilts. She was always there to listen when you needed a friend. She was always there to help when you needed the help; she was one of a kind. If she were here she would say do not weep for me for even though I am gone from your sight, I have entered into rest; there is no more pain, no more suffering. In you hearts and thoughts I will live on. I am at peace, my soul is at rest. No need for tears, because with your love I was blessed.

"When I am gone Home"

Written by Lucille Jones

When I am gone, don't weep; for me, for I am not alone. The good Lord, He took my hand and carried me away to my new home. Now, when you look upon my face, don't shed one tear for me, for I am at peace in my new home that Jesus built you see. I have many loved ones there to meet me on that shore. We will shout and sing and praise His name forevermore. You see this world is just a dressing place, so friend don't wait too long, to choose your home, sweet home.  For Christ might come just anytime, to take His children home.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
