Obituary

Lissette Amor Johnson-Taylor was born November 26, 1982, and departed this life Wednesday, October 18, 2023, reaching the age of 40 years. She was the daughter of Ponell Johnson, II, and the late Connie Sue Amor.

She is survived by: her father, Ponell Johnson, II; one brother, Christopher Johnson; one sister, Stephanie Johnson; and one niece, Amorie Johnson. She is also survived by her local caregiver family of almost thirteen years whom she considered to be her family as well:  Robert "Brother" and Paula "Floss" Taylor; nieces, Kara and Shalyn, and nephew, Aydan Taylor; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her mother, Connie Sue Amor, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ponell "Eric" Johnson, III; and Robert Hicks whom she loved as a father.

Lissette was a dedicated employee of Mcdonald's for the last eight years; she was hands down the best burrito roller and even awarded Employee of the Month and Year.  Lissette was provided with support by Lana Stinson at her job, whom she loved dearly and considered family.

Lissette was an avid animal lover except for squirrels. She had her own special form of communication with the family dogs Ray Ray and Hoss whom she spoiled and overfed daily.

Lissette was ambitious competing in the Miss Abilities Pageant, Special Olympics of KY, the Force Abilities Dance program, and pursuing her GED. She was an advocate for people with disabilities and was a six-year member of the Protection & Advocacy advisory board as well as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

In Lissette's downtime, she enjoyed going to Bingo with" Momma Elsie" and taking her chances on pull tabs and Chinese. She was a fan of the Wayne County Cardinals, she went to lots of sporting events cheering her favorite cards on, with her cowbell in hand.  She enjoyed spending time with family, meeting new people, dancing, traveling, drawing, writing, reading her Bible, and genuinely loving people.

Lissette attended Old Bethel Bible Church and loved her Church family.  She enjoyed helping with Bible School and encouraging Pastor Jeff Bertram.  Lissette truly was the hands and feet of Christ. She showed God's love, a pure love without hesitation or expectation in return.

Lissette played many vital roles in people's lives; she was a daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, employee, best friend, and most importantly a child of God.  She was a fierce protector of her nieces, nephew, and cousins, spoiling them and giving them back as she would say.  Her smile could light up any room, the sound of her laughter was contagious, and her joyful presence would instantly make anyone's day better. Lissette was compassionate, loyal, kind, considerate, dedicated, beautiful, inspiring, and loving. It's simply said to know Lissette was to love her.  We are forever blessed and grateful for her presence and the role she played in all our lives.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, between 5 pm until 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Taylor Family Cemetery.
