Obituary

Linnie Marie Munsey, age 98, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Somerset Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility where she had resided since February 4, 2014.

She was born on December 17, 1921 in the Betsey Community of Wayne County to Andrew Tilden and Kittie (Sloan) East.

She was a 1940 graduate of Mill Springs High School.  For many years she helped on the family farm, but in the late 1960s she started working at Lear-Siegler in Ferguson and did so for several years.

Linnie married Richard Lee Munsey in 1942.  This marriage spanned 56 years until Richard's death in January of 1999.

Linnie is survived by her children:  Nancy (Donald) Dunagan, Joyce Munsey, and Richard Lewis (Janet) Munsey.  Also surviving are two grandsons, Forrest (Sharon) and Scott (Lisa) Dunagan; three granddaughters: Cassie (Chris) Lester, Kellyn Martin, and Morgan (Gabe) Dick.  Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Gavin, Austin, and Cameron Dunagan and Everly Martin.

Linnie was preceded in death by her parents, Tilden and Kittie East, her husband, Richard Lee Munsey, her siblings Lucy and Lois East, Lillie Ballou, Evy Hurt, Frank and Charlie East and infant brothers Willie and James East.

Linnie was a faithful member of Meadow Creek United Methodist Church and attended as long as her health allowed.

The family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Meadow Creek United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 9, 2020 between 10 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance. You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines. No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.
