Linda Atkinson was born November 4, 1944 and departed this life Sunday, December 17, 2017 reaching the age of 73 years. She was the daughter the late Roy and Edna (Guffey) Ramsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Perry Roy Ramsey.


She is survived by: her husband, Harold Atkinson; one son, Richie (Malissa) Atkinson; one daughter, Melissa (Roger) Roberts; six grandchildren, Joseph Atkinson, Chelsea Shelton, Ryan Hopper, Kyle Hopper, Monica Hopper and Izak Roberts; and two great grandchildren, Layne and Lynley Shelton. She is also survived by: two brothers, Tommy (Barbara) and Rick (Donna) Ramsey; two sisters, Wanda (Ron) Barber and Geraldine (Jack) Guffey; and sister-in-law, Anna Ramsey; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

Mamaw, as she was lovingly known by many, loved to fish, sew, spend time outside, play games and make crafts. Later in life when her eye sight failed her she turned to tying blankets as her favorite pastime. Making her beloved Harold search store after store for just the right blankets. She poured her heart and soul into whatever task she wanted to accomplish. She didn't just make one pillowcase dress, one necklace, or one blanket- she made hundreds. She was one of a kind and a truly remarkable lady who loved her Lord, her family and her friends. Well, actually she loved everyone and everything! Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed! We are better for knowing her. It will be impossible to forget someone who gave us so much to remember, but our loss is Heaven's gain.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 between 5 pm – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 4 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.
