Lewis E. Gregory, "Spanky", was born on August 28th, 1941, and departed this life Friday, December 30, 2022. He was the son of Lindsey and Mossie Gregory. He married Janet Gehring Gregory on June 18, 1960.  To this union one son was born, Stewart Gregory.

He was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church.  During his time as a member, he served on the Mountain View Baptist Camp Board and was treasurer for several years as well.  Lewis was a CPA for 40 years, owning his own business in Monticello.  He pursued other business ventures, such as owning several health care agencies.

He loved hunting, house boating, fishing, and spending time with family.  When he was not on the water or in a tree stand, he loved cheering on his son, Stewart, and grandchildren, Gabriele and Gage in all their sporting events.  He was extremely proud of each of them and their accomplishments.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet (Gehring) Gregory; daughter-in-law, Amy Gregory; two grandchildren, Gabriele and Gage Gregory; along with a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lindsey and Mossie Gregory; son, Stewart Gregory; brothers, Bruce Gregory and an infant brother.

Lewis will be dearly missed by all who loved and cherished him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Mountain View Baptist Camp Foldgers Building Fund.
