Obituary

Lewis Madison Daffron, 91, of Monticello, died Saturday, October 20,2018, at his home.

A native of Wayne County, he was born August 28,1927, the son of James Lewis and Lela Mercer Daffron.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and as one of Monticello's early volunteer firefighters.  He was a sharp businessman, having owned Daffron's Fruit Market and Daffron's Trailer Sales and Rentals before his retirement.  He was a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church for 69 years and an avid life-long fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Gibson and Jo Denney, and two infant sons.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 70 years, Nancy Powell Daffron, married April 18, 1948.

Adoring Great-Grandfather to:  Dagan, Clay, and Lee Shelton, Calee, Cadence, and Ty Upchurch, Emma, Sophia, and Miriam Novotny, Matthew Clark, Anthony Daffron, Donnie Troxell, Tiffany Phelps

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 9:00 am-2 pm at Monticello United Methodist Church. Funeral services will also be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 2 pm at the church . Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Monticello United Methodist Church in memory of Lewis "Sonny" Daffron.
