Lester B. "Hoss" Gossage came into the world on September 19, 1929 in Wayne County, Kentucky near Lock 21. He was the son of the late Bleuford and Florence (Turner) Gossage. He was born on his family's farm where he grew and made many happy memories with his 8 brothers and sisters: Carlie Gossage, Verla McKinley, Beulah Coffey, Reba Wallen, Elvis Gossage, Mildred Ballenger, Finis "Budge" Gossage, and Bruce Gossage. These memories were a source of so many stories he told so many people who knew him.
At the age of eighteen, he met the love of his life, Velma Ruth Eads at an Easter egg hunt at Lock 21. They were wed the next year and two children were born to this union, Edwin Ray Gossage (Carol) and Carolyn Faye Anderson (Mike). He was especially proud and interested in spending time with his grandchildren, Julia Ann Gossage Pyles, Kathy Susan Gossage, Kenneth Ray Gossage, and Christina Faye Anderson. During his final years, he enjoyed visiting and keeping up with his great grandchildren, Ty Guffey, Jordan Guffey, Hallie Pyles, Macy Gossage, and Stephen Parker Ray Gossage.
The family finds comfort in knowing Lester accepted Christ as his personal Savior early in life and was a member of Fall Creek United Baptist Church. So, the family circle will be complete again someday.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 5-9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Burk & Bro. Howard Slagle officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
