Phillip York, age 77, was born April 4, 1940 and departed this life on September 5, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lettie (Garner) York; brothers and wives, Junior (Betty) York and Gene (Treva) York; father and mother-in-law, Marvin & Mary Norfleet and brothers-in-law: Jimmie Norfleet, Harold Norfleet and Andrew J. McIntyre II.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart, partner in life, and devoted caregiver, Doris (Norfleet) York whom he married May 12, 1962; brother, Frank (Betty) York; sister, Brenda (Don) Hiten; nieces: Barbara (Alvin) Sexton, Kristy (Tim) Reeder, Carol (Brian) Ford and nephew, Charles York. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marlene McIntyre, Brenda (Ray) Shrader, and Annette Norfleet; brother-in-law, Oscar (Susie) Norfleet; nieces: Marti (Ben) Shoenfelt, Amy (Clint) Edwards, and Elizabeth (Michael) Riley and nephews: Phillip (Kristine) Atwell and Eddie (Jessica) Norfleet, plus numerous great nieces & nephews, as well as many friends.
Phillip was employed at Selvidge's Star Market, Peoples State Bank and retired from the Monticello Banking Company after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the First Church of God and remained active as long as his health permitted. Phillip served in the Kentucky National Guard, was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #431 and also was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel.
Phillip's love of farming came at an early age working at the stockyards in his teens and continued throughout his life as he worked side-by-side with Doris on their farm. He was a true example of what a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend a person should be. His caring heart will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2017 between 5 – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held Thursday, September 7th at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
