Leonard Matthew Vanover, age 71, of Monticello, KY, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his home in Wayne County, KY.
He was born and raised in McCreary County on May 22, 1940. The son of Elsie May (Taylor) Vanover and Starlin Elijah Vanover. He is preceded in death by both his parents; his infant son, Leonard Matthew Vanover, Jr.; 1 daughter, Sheila Valleriani; 2 brothers, Ronald James and Avery Vanover; 3 infant siblings; and 1 brother-in-law, Marshall Blaine Davis.
He is survived by: his wife, Betty Adele Vanover; 3 daughters and their husbands, Bonnie (Randall) Hall of Monticello, KY, Deborah (Frank) Brummett of Monticello, KY, Linda (David) Seymour of Michigan; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by 12 siblings: brothers- William (Trish) Vanover and Donald (Glenna) Vanover all of Williamsburg, Carlis (Sheila) Vanover of Monticello, KY, Harold (Janis) of Corbin, KY, and Darrell (Mary) Vanover of Georgia; sisters- Dorothy (Raymond) Bryant, Connie (Jimmy) Rider, Brenda (and the late Blaine) Davis, Virginia (Jimmy) Carter, Joyce (Allen) Cain, and Donna (David) Rider all of Williamsburg; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 1 pm at the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Dewey Burks officiating. Burial will be in Indian Creek Cemetery in McCreary County.
