Dishman
March 9, 1925 – April 24, 2019
Leonard E. Dishman was born March 9, 1925 and departed this life Wednesday, April 24, 2019 reaching the age of 94 years. He was the son of the late Watt and Maudie Dishman.
He is survived by: his wife, Della Dishman; three daughters, Anneda Guffey, Vickie Jo Bolin, and Ginger Hicks Upchurch; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Greely and Powell Dishman; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one son, Donnie Eugene Dishman; one daughter, Peggy Conwell; three brothers, Lloyd, Bruce, and Paul Dishman; and four sisters, Mossie Kennedy, Evelyn Smith, Bonnie McGinnis, and Nell Lowe.
A WWII Army Veteran, he served his country faithfully. He continued his service by providing military funeral honors to other veterans for 28 years. He was a member of the Wayne County Disabled American Veterans.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 28, 2019 between 4pm - 8pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or DAV Chapter 105.
