Leland Carl Upchurch, "better know as Speedy", passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 having reached the age of 72 years. He was the son of the late Wilburn Kenneth Upchurch and Lurie (Flynn) Taylor.

He is survived by: 2 daughters, Jennifer Crabtree and Shirley Hicks; 3 grandchildren, Cody Lyle Crabtree, Courtney Morgan Crabtree, and Braxton Carl Rigney; 2 brothers, Dean Taylor and Jamie Taylor; 2 sisters, Linda Whithers and Lois Ann Cantrell; as well as a host of family and friends that mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by: 1 brother, Bill Taylor; and one sister, Sandra Brown.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend that will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 2, 2015 after 6pm EST in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2015 at 2pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: the Leland Carl Upchurch Memorial Fund c/o the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.
