Lela Upchurch was born December 1, 1929 and departed this life Tuesday, September 08, 2015 reaching the age of 85 years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lou Bernetta (Bell) Humble.

She married Kenneth Lee Upchurch and to this union three children were born.

She is survived by: three sons, Martin (Nancy) Upchurch, Gary (Sandra) Upchurch, and Kelvin (Cindy) Upchurch; five grandchildren, Kenneth Howard Upchurch, Keith Martin Upchurch, Timothy Shawn Upchurch, Kelli Nicole Spencer, and Kristopher Nicholas Upchurch; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by: one brother, Louis Humble; and one sister, Christine Massengale; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Thomas and Lou Humble, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Kenneth Upchurch; her brother, Bro. Sam Humble; and three sisters, Hazel Burton, Mary Turner, and Flora Krombrick.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2015 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In connection to this funeral announcement, Upchurch Insurance will be closed on Friday.
