Laura Darlene Adams was born on June 26, 1953 and departed this life Thursday, May 22, 2025, reaching the age of 71 years. She was the daughter of the late Wendell and Modean (Moran) Hicks.

She married the late Wilburn Ray Adams and to this union two children were born.

She is survived by her two children, Dawn Brown of Eubank, KY and Chris Adams of Albany, KY. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Whitney Turpin King (Derek) of Lexington, KY, whom she was Mom to; two additional grandchildren whom she raised, Ethan Brown and Olivia Spradlin; her sister, Sandy Phillips (Tom) and niece, Stacey Phillips of Louisville, KY; and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Wendell and Modean Hicks, and her husband, Ray Adams, she was proceeded in death by her brother Leslie Lee Hicks.

Darlene was the matriarch, and raised her children and grandchildren for nearly fifty years. Her purposes in life were her family and her faith, and she did everything with them in mind.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2025, between 11 am and 2 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
