Kenneth Parnell, son of Goldie Holder Parnell and the late Algie Parnell, was born in the Parnell community of Wayne County on August 1, 1951. He departed this life on January 1, 2014, reaching the age of 62 years.

At an early age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and at the time of his passing he was a member of the Parnell Baptist Church. It seemed as Kenneth grew weaker in body his faith in the Lord only grew stronger.

On July 14, 1973 he married Connie Abbott. To this union two children survive: Kendall Parnell (wife, Tonya) and Wendy Denney (husband, Seth) both of Monticello, Kentucky. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Taylor and Lacy Parnell and Lylah and Madelyn Denney. He is survived by two sisters: Ethel Turner (husband, Gary) and Shirley Spielman (husband, Jeff) along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers: Selma, Olma and Danny and one sister Sylvia Parmley.

Kenneth was a hard worker. The majority of his life he worked construction and particularly was a dozer operator. Many would say he was the finest dozer operator around. He loved to work and took pride in providing for his family. He would often time say his hobby was working.

Kenneth was loved by all and leaves behind many to mourn his passing. He is our husband, daddy and papaw and we miss him very much, but we know he is now with Jesus and soon we will see him again.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 5 – 9 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 2 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Henry Stringer and Bro. Harold Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery
