IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth
Conley
July 13, 1950 – December 9, 2024
Kenneth Eugene Conley was born July 13, 1950, and departed this life Monday, December 9, 2024, reaching the age of 74 years. He was the son of the late James and Mary Leta (Dalton) Conley. He married Sheila Walker on July 7, 1973. In sickness and in health they were married 51 years. To this union two children were born.
In addition to his wife, Sheila, he is survived two children, Angie Phillips (David) and Jamie Conley (Emily); three grandchildren, Kendall, James Rex, and Bryce; and one brother, Danny Conley (Vickie); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
Kenny began working on the family farm as a young child. He had the love of farming from the beginning and continued working until his illness. He was a proud member of the fraternity of farmers that live along highway 1275. If you couldn't find him on the Conley farm, he was most likely with another farmer helping out, just as they helped him.
In addition to the family farm, Kenny worked locally at Belden's for nearly 30 years.
Kenny enjoyed gardening and was known in the community for his prize produce that he enthusiastically shared with his neighbors. His dozens of varieties of tomatoes were a favorite.
He was an avid Kentucky Basketball fan. Kenny listened to games on the radio as a young child because he "didn't have a T.V. until he was 13," which he liked to remind his children of often.
Kenny graduated from Wayne County High School in 1968 and followed in his father's footsteps to play basketball for the Cardinals. The plan was to attend Cumberland College after graduating, but his heart was on the farm with his father. He agreed to go, but returned to the farm after two days. As a result, Kenny highly "encouraged" his children to go to college.
Kenny was a member of the Kentucky National Guard and was well known by his fellow guardsmen for his brute strength.
He was often caught pulling pranks on co-workers and friends and loved to laugh and tell funny stories. His quick wit was second to none. He kept everyone laughing, even during his extended illness.
Above all, Kenny loved his family: mother, father, brother, wife, daughter, son, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandsons, nieces, nephews, and special cousins. He was so proud of all of them.
Kenny Conley loved Jesus and was baptized as a child at Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a member of First Christian Church.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, between 10 am – 1 pm at First Christian Church of Monticello. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 1 pm at the First Christian Church of Monticello. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
