Kenneth D. Catron was born June 2, 1936 and departed this life Thursday, March 5, 2020 reaching the age of 83 years. He was the son of the late Cress M. and Lessie Florence (Denney) Catron.

He married Betty Sue Gehring and to this union four children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Betty Sue Catron; his children, Tammy Catron, Kenny (Kathy) Catron and Jason Catron; grandchildren, Kendra (David) Wash and Kendall (Tiffany) Catron; and two great grandchildren, Jalyn Catron and Taylor Catron; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Cress and Lessie Catron, he was preceded in death by: one son, Barry Ray Catron; four brothers, Earl Catron, William "Bill" Catron, Eugene Catron and Donald Catron; and two sisters, Hazel Hicks and Lilly Catron.

Kenneth served his country and his community faithfully; he was an Army Veteran and former Mayor of Monticello,  as well as a member of the Wayne County Rescue Squad, Kentucky Empowerment Zone, Kentucky Highlands and the Masonic Lodge.

*Masonic Services will be held Saturday, March 7 at 6 PM at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home chapel.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2020 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.  Military honors will be provided by our local DAV Chapter 105.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to:  Mt. Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or Gideon Memorial Bible Plan
