Kathy Jean Kennedy Easterly was born May 13, 1951 and departed this life Friday, April 23, 2021 reaching the age of 69 years. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Mossie (Dishman) Kennedy.

She is survived by: one son, Rick (Stephanie Southard) Morgan; one daughter, Lisa Morgan (J.B.) Powell; one stepson, David Easterly; seven grandchildren, Racheal (Tony) Smedley, Dillon (Kayla) Morgan, Matthew (Alli) Gregory, Hunter Morgan, Whitney (Greg) Hicks, Brandon (Erin) Powell and Dalton Easterly; and eight great grandchildren, Brooklyn Smedley, Shelby Smedley, Jackson Morgan, Carter Morgan, Alannah Morgan, Riley Hancock, Scarlett Hancock, and Preston Hicks; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Otto and Mossie Kennedy, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Ronald David Easterly; one son, Billy Dwayne Morgan; one granddaughter, Kayla Hancock; and five brothers, Mintford, Kenneth, Leland, Otto, and Ronnie Kennedy.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30, 2021 between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Gap Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance. You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines. No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.
