June Massengale was born January 22, 1929 and departed this life Thursday, March 5, 2015 reaching the age of 86 years. She was the daughter of the late Prent and Thelma (Caylor) Stearns.

She married Glen Massengale on December 27, 1952 in the Old First Baptist Church in Monticello, KY.

She is survived by: her son, Mark Massengale; one daughter, Jill Massengale; and one grandson, Todd Massengale; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Prent and Thelma Stearns, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Glen Massengale; and one brother, Boyd Stearns.

June has a long history in the field of education. Her own education started out in a one room school in Parnell; going on to graduate from the old Wayne County High School. After graduating high school she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education at Western Kentucky University.

She continued her love of education as a teacher; first at Ruttle's Mill in Bourbon County, a one room school in Burfield, Pine Knot, Rocky Branch, Monticello, and finishing at Wayne County Elementary School.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2015 after 6 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to one of the following:
Hospice of Lake Cumberland,
American Cancer Society,
Wayne County Hospital,
American Diabetes Association
