Joyce Marie (Brown) Frost was born June 25, 1934 in Wayne County; the daughter of the late John Elbert Brown and Ather (Horton) Brown Massengale.

On January 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to the late James Alvin Frost.

She is survived by: 3 sons, Larry, Jeff (Sandra), and Tim (Louise) Frost; 1 daughter, Christy (Chris) Kindrick. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren: Angi (Troy) McElfresh, Brooke Frost, Tiffany (Brandon) Thompson, Elijah Frost, Seth Frost, Amanda (Joe) Phillips, Harley Frost, Raven (Jordan) Koontz, Megan and Merritt Kindrick; and 6 great-grandchildren, Kristen and Kylie Reeves, Landon Thompson, Faith Brown, Ethan and Rylee Koontz. She is also survived by: 1 brother, Cecil Ray Brown; and 1 sister, Geneva Ruth Pierce.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Frost; 3 child siblings: Jack, Billy and Mary Sue Brown; 2 brothers George and Edwin "Gee" Brown; 1 sister, Lois Ann Bertram; and 1 granddaughter, Brooke Frost.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 5 – 9 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 2 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Elk Spring Cemetery.
