Joseph George Marquis, better known as "The Doorman" was born January 1, 1945 and departed this life Thursday, July 14, 2016 reaching the age of 71 years. He was the son of the late Henry and Josephine (Beland) Marquis.

He is survived by: his wife Terry (Spangler) Marquis; 3 sons- Wayne, David, and Adam Marquis; 6 daughters- Wanda and Jessica Marquis, Jeanette Lee, Heather Marquis, Dee Wimberly, and Mary Kendrick; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren with another on the way. He is also survived by: 3 sisters- Dorothy Golbranson, Louise Labbi, and Bernadette Barbagallo; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Roberta Corno.

There will be no public visitation. A Memorial Service is planned for Monday, July 18, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM in the Shelter House at the Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the George Marquis Memorial Fund at Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home.
