John M. Hancock was born June 21, 1961 and departed this life Thursday, December 3, 2015 reaching the age of 54 years. He was the son of Earl Hancock and Lucille (Clark) Hancock.

He is survived by: one son, Jeremiah Hancock; one daughter, Heather Hancock; and one grandson, Austin Dishman. He is also survived by: his parents, Earl and Lucille Hancock; and three brothers, Dale, Danny, and David Hancock; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Watkins.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 6, 2015 after 12:30pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: John Hancock Memorial Fund, c/o Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home
