Joel Lewis Stokes II was born December 4, 1921 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Sunday, January 5th, 2003, reaching the age of 81 years. He was the son of Capt. Joel Lewis Stokes and Bess Dalton Stokes.
He is survived by his wife Eva Kelsay Collins Stokes, one son-Joel Lewis Stokes III of Sparks, Nevada and one daughter-Joyce Lee Lewis of Middletown, Ohio. He is survived by three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-Ralph Stokes and one grandchild.
He served his country faithfully as a Retired Lt. Colonel in the Air Force, having served as a B-17 Pilot during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Visitation: The family will receive friends after 11 AM on Wednesday, January 8th, 2003 in the chapel.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be the same day at 2 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
