Jimmie Hughes was born April 23, 1946 and departed this life Thursday, February 16, 2017 reaching the age of 70 years. He was the son of the late Elvin "Dude" and Leta (Denney) Hughes.

He married Edna Sexton and to this union four children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Edna Hughes; two sons, David "Bear" Hughes (Henrietta) and Mark Hughes (Sheila); one daughter, Sheila Sexton; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Bruce Hughes and Wayne Hughes; and two sisters, Vernice Hill and Janice Morrow; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Dude and Leta Hughes, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Faye Hughes.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2017 after 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Sandusky Baptist Church Cemetery.
