Jimmie Lorene Hancock, age 85, was called Home on July 4, 2023, at Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY, surrounded by the love of her family.

Jimmie was born on January 13, 1938, in Clinton County, KY, a daughter of Orville and Audie (Koger) Hancock. After growing up in Monticello, she spent several years in Youngstown, Ohio, before returning home. She worked in local shirt factories until retirement and was a frequent thrifter on Tradio for many years. A fiercely independent person and proud Christian, Jimmie was a member of Immanuel Baptist church. She loved gardening and could grow just about anything; she also enjoyed quilting, exploring genealogy at the library, and raising her beloved Siamese cats. The greatest love and joy of her life was her family, though; she truly treasured every moment and was made proud by milestones big and small.

Left to miss her for the rest of their lives are her daughter, Lisa Morrow, grandson Derek (Sierra) Morrow, and great-grandson Finley Morrow; niece Vicki Burnett, nephew Allen Sexton, and brother-in-law Junior Sexton. She also leaves half-brother Ray Hancock of Tennessee, and a host of friends and family near and far that will never forget her. Jimmie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Delta Kahn and Dorothy Sexton, and brothers Avril Eugene Hancock and James Hancock.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 9, at the Hicks-Vaughn funeral home chapel from 12pm-2pm, with a service immediately following. She will then be laid to rest in Elk Spring Cemetery.
