Jess Barton Chesney was born March 27, 1919 and departed this life August 1, 2008 reaching the age of 89 years. He was the son of the late Joshua Kindrick and Flora (Ramsey) Chesney.

He married Lucille Sidwell and to this union three children were born.

He is survived by: his wife- Lucille Chesney of Monticello, KY, one son- Ray Barton (Betty) Chesney of Monticello, KY, two daughters- Cheryl Lee (Robert, Jr.) Chambless of Munfordville, KY and Mary Allison (John, Jr.) of Hopkinsville, KY, four grandchildren- Vachel Lyn and Ray Barton Chesney, Jr., Jessica Smith Gaines and John F. (Jay) Smith, III, three great grandchildren- Kacee, Alora, and Gabriel Chesney. He is also survived by: two sisters- Mary Taylor and Ruth Slater both of Monticello, KY; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: two brothers- Cicero and James "Jim" Chesney.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.


Visitation: Sunday, August 3rd between 1 - 7 pm
Funeral Service: Monday, August 4th at 10 am
Interment: Elk Spring Cemetery
