Jeffrey Lynn Parmley, age 62 of Oneida, TN, formerly of Monticello, KY, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 7, 2023 at his home in Oneida, TN.
He was born August 30, 1961 in Indianapolis, IN; the son of the late Robert and Jean Parmley.
He was united in marriage to Debbie Smith on July 8, 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Debbie Parmley; one son Ian Parker Parmley (Calee). He is also survived by two sisters, Karen Abbott and Brenda Wright, one brother-in-law, Ed Smith (Brenda) and one sister-in-law, Kim Giles (Greg); along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Parmley, his father and mother-in-law, Earl and Grace Smith, and sister-in-law, Melissa Smith.
Jeff was known for his many musical talents. Singing, playing instruments, as well as song writing. He was an avid, lifetime musician.
At home, Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with his dog, Leia; He loved doing projects outside and she would be there every step of the way.
He was an alumnus of Eastern Kentucky University and University of Louisville. Throughout his career as a licensed clinical social worker, he touched many lives and helped them overcome obstacles with a great passion and dedication to his profession.
He became a Christian at a young age and was a member at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Later in life he and his wife, became members of Mill Springs Christian Church. After leaving Wayne County kept their membership at Mill Springs Christian Church. Their son, Ian was baptized there as well. Mt. Zion Baptist Church and Mill Springs Christian Church have always remained dear to the family.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2 pm at the Mill Springs Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
