JEAN DUNCAN ELAM was born August 4, 1922 and departed this life April 9, 2006 reaching the age of 83 years. She was the daughter of James Rankin "JR" Duncan and Effie Shearer.

She was united in marriage to Fred Elam and to this union three children were born.

She is survived by three sons, James Elam (companion, Patty Stockton) of Richmond, KY, Jerry (Marilyn) Elam of Harrodsburg, KY, and Sam (Freda) Elam of Alpha, KY; eleven grandchildren, Susan Pickett, Callee Elam, Jerrod Elam, Sam Roy Elam, Jr., Lisa Elam Meadows, Amy Elam, Polly Elam, Ray Clark, Tim Clark, Sharon Chesney, and Frank Moore; twelve great grandchildren, Zane Elam, William Elam, Cheyenne Elam, Joni Nicole Meadows, Sammie Jean Elam, Juanita Ruth ________, Victoria Kennedy Hood, Casey Galbreath, Jordan Hood, Andrea Roemers, Michael Aaron and Samantha Clark.

She is also survived by one brother, John Duncan of New Castle, IN; one sister, Hazel Back of New Castle, IN; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. R. and Effie Duncan; her husband, Fred Elam; and one sister, Violet Moore.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
