Janet Parmley Bates was born June 15, 1952 and departed this life Saturday, May 5, 2018 reaching the age of 65 years. She was the daughter of the late Oliver and Lydia (Stringer) Parmley.

She is survived by: her goddaughter, Helena Lair; god-grandchildren, Mayson and Brenley Colyer; brothers, Jerry Parmley (Karen), Rook Parmley (Diane), and Dale Parmley; and sisters, Charlotte Crouch (Bruce) and Nickie Parmley; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Oliver and Lydia Parmley, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Sammie Bates; and brothers, Rex, Eric, Larry, and Mark Parmley.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 10, 2018 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, May 11, 2018 at 11 am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
