James Edward “Racky” Brummett was born July 18, 1945, and departed this life Tuesday, April 28, 2026, reaching the age of 80 years. He was the son of the late Sam and Dovie (Foster) Brummett.

He is survived by: his companion, Cindy Bates; two sons, Clint Brummett and Josh Brummett; one daughter, Samantha Foster; step children, Maxine Waters, Tommy Bates, Tony Bates, William Bates, Laura Allen, and Mack Bates; and grandchildren, Bryar Brummett, Tyten and Tysen Fairchild; and 12 step grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing. He is also survived by: three sisters, Wanda McWhorter, Ann Savage, and Sue Adkins (Billy).

In addition to his parents, Sam and Dovie Brummett, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy Brummett; two brothers, Jimmy Brummett and Kenny Brummett; three sisters, Mary Guinn, Nancy Smith, and Donna Jean Morris; and two step-grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 4, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Green Betty Cemetery.
