James Matthews was born March 7, 1951 and departed this life Sunday, February 1, 2015 reaching the age of 63 years. He was the son of the late John and Ruby (Watson) Matthews.

He married Darla Foster and to this union two children were born.

He is survived by: his wife, Darla Matthews; one son, James Matthews; one daughter, Jennifer Atkinson; 5 grandchildren, Jessie Matthews, Dustin Atkinson, Jacob McGuire, Rick and Zachariah Prater; 2 great grandchildren, Lainey Atkinson and Aubrey McGuire. He is also survived by: 5 brothers, George and Jerry, and Eddie Matthews, Jimmy and Glasgow Coffey; 3 sisters, Faye Dobbs, Georgie Young, and Doris Bell; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, John and Ruby Matthews, he was preceded in death by: three sisters, Minnie Gregory, Velda Pitman, and Jewel Bell.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 after 5 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the New Sandusky Cemetery.
