Obituary

James Tyree "Jim" Lawson was born September 9th, 1927 in Pineville, Kentucky and departed this life Saturday, December 2nd, 2006, reaching the age of 79 years. He was the son of the late Richard Lewis Lawson and Mabel Miller Lawson.

He was united in marriage to Lota Adele Raymer and to this union three children were born.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Adele Lawson and two sons-District Judge James M. "Mike" Lawson and wife Vicki Jo Armstrong Lawson and Steven G. Lawson and wife Jill Hicks Lawson, all of Albany, KY. He is survived by two grandchildren-Ashleigh Jo Lawson-Dalton and husband Luke Dalton and Christopher Michael Lawson. He is also survived by two great grandchildren-Evie Jo and Sophie Luca Dalton.

He is survived by two sisters-Lera Jane Kapitan of Pineville, KY and Clara Combs of Lexington, KY and one brother-Jerry Paul Lawson of Stark, Florida, along with a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by one son-Kenneth Wayne Lawson, his parents Richard and Mabel Lawson, and two brothers-Richard Lawson, Jr. and Alvis P. Lawson.

He was a long-time Albany Funeral Director, having worked at Sewell Funeral Home for 25 years and worked at Talbott Funeral Home for several years. He was co-owner of Talbott-Lawson Ambulance Service and former Clinton County Coroner.

He was a faithful member of Albany First Baptist Church and attended regularly as long as his health allowed.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.


Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday, December 4th, 2006 from 5-9 PM CST at Albany First Baptist Church in Albany, Kentucky and from 7 AM CST until the funeral hour of 11 AM on Tuesday, December 5th, 2006.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Tuesday, December 5th, 2006 at 11 AM CST at the Albany First Baptist Church with Bro. Ron Jones and Bro. Jeff Brown officiating.
Interment: Burial will be in Memorial Hill Cemetery in Albany, Kentucky.
