James Marshall Kennedy was born July 8th, 1933 in Wayne County, Kentucky and departed this life Friday, December 27th, 2002, reaching the age of 69 years. He was the son of Cicero Cleveland Kennedy and Bessie Gibson Kennedy.

He was united in marriage to Vera Bell Kennedy and to this union six children were born.

He is survived by his wife Vera, two sons-Robert "Bob" Kennedy and Bryan K. Kennedy, both of Monticello, KY and four daughters-Marsha Edwards of Tuscaloosa, AL, Susan Burkhead of Savannah, TN, Darlene Sexton and Ida Mae Dean, both of Monticello, KY. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He is also survived by one sister-Allene Derossett of Windfall, IN, along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

He served his country faithfully as a member of the United States Armed Forces.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, relative and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.


Visitation: The family will receive friends after 4 PM on Sunday, December 29th, 2002 in the chapel.
Funeral Service: The funeral service will be Monday, December 30th, 2002 at 2 PM in the chapel of the Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Nelson and Bro. Oscar Franklin officiating.
Interment: Burial will follow in the Stop Cemetery.
