James Garth was born March 7, 1938 and departed this life Monday, May 25, 2020 reaching the age of 82 years. He was the son of the late James Hunter and Mattie Lou Garth Hendrickson.

He is survived by: one daughter, Carla (Norman) Griggs; three grandchildren, Tiana, Henry, and Tyrek; and six great great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by: siblings, Cecil (Shirley) Garth and Richard (Cindy) Garth, Dorothy Garth and Marjorie Doyte, Lena (Alonzo) Allen, Wilburn (Sarah) Hunter, Mary (Willie) Garrett, Vida Hunter, Martha (Bishop Gregory) Chaney, and Danny Hunter; and sister-in-law, Margie Hunter; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, James Hunter and Mattie Hendrickson, he was preceded in death by siblings, Gladys Hunter, Regial Hunter, Billy Joe Hunter, James H. Hunter and Sterling Hunter.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 6, 2020 between 12 pm – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Monticello Cemetery.
