James Carter, age 79, of Lancaster, KY; formerly of Monticello, KY.; husband of Alta Stonecipher Carter, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in Danville, KY

In addition to his wife Alta, he is survived by two daughters- Francis and Sandy Winsett; 3 stepdaughters- Brenda (and Robert) Horn, Cindy Goldey, and Melissa (and George) Tillery; a step-son- Alvin Woody, Jr. (and special friend Kim); as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 12 Noon until 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will also be Monday at 2 pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
