Hugh Shearer was born June 24, 1923 and departed this life Tuesday, January 5, 2016 reaching the age of 92 years. He was the son of the late George and Maude (Stearns) Shearer.

He is survived by: 2 sons, Chris (Rhonda) Shearer and Darrell (Carol) Shearer; one daughter, Janice (David) Barrier; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by: one brother, George Luther Shearer; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, George and Maude Shearer, he was preceded in death by: one brother, William Logan Shearer; and one sister, Virgie Poe.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2015 after 5pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 10am at the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

Full military honors will be performed by our local DAV Chapter 105.
