Hobert Barber was born January 22, 1924 and departed this life Sunday, February 28, 2016 reaching the age of 92 years. He was the son of the late Ovid and Eura (Sloan) Barber.
He married Lenola Beaty and to this union three children were born.
He is survived by: his wife, Lenola Barber; one son, John Barber; two daughters, Beatrice Newman and Beverly Ball; 6 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by: two brothers, Bill Barber and Robert Barber; and three sisters, Mae Jarvis, Mary Dot Moore, and Betty Hisel; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Ovid and Eura Barber, he was preceded in death by: one brother, Hubert Barber; one sister, Thelma Smith; and one grandchild.
Hobert was a WWII Army Veteran who served his country faithfully. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 after 5pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1pm in the chapel of the Hicks-Vaughn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by DAV Chapter 105.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: Hospice of Lake Cumberland or Lifeline Home Health
