IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Hazel Jean
Parmley
July 9, 1930 – March 3, 2022
Hazel Jean (Edwards ) Parmley was born July 9, 1930 to Leo Edwards and Hattie Denney Edwards at Hidalgo and left this world for a better place on March 3, 2022, reaching the age of 91 years. She spent most of her childhood in a log cabin on Edwards Mountain, enjoying an idyllic upbringing. Though born during the depression era, she recalled her childhood fondly, never complaining of the hard life they had. She attended Slickford School and later worked at Ledbetter Cleaners until she met and married Glen Parmley, welcomed into his large family as one of their own. To this union 3 children were born, Keith, Nancy and Roger. To say Hazel was a housewife and mother, is to simplify the invaluable services she provided for her family. Once children were raised and independent, Hazel returned to work outside the home and operated Hazel's Cards and Gifts for several years. She was active in Parnell Baptist Church as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed by anyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, son, Roger, grandson Seth, and 2 great grandchildren Shyla and Jakin. She is survived by her children Keith (Liz) Parmley and Nancy Carter; her grandchildren Luke(Ashley) Carter, Rachel (Michael) Dishman, Mattie(Ben) Wells, Matthew (Michele) Parmley, Coby (Katie) Carter and Leah (Shane) Bertram and her 16 great grandchildren Draven, Kaitlyn, Aiden, Miles, Emmie, Hailey, Ethan, Grace, Kenzie, Link, Cora, Ellie, Carter , Ty, Finn and Amelia. She is also survived by a brother Kenneth Edwards and a sister Janet Sue (Frank) Laurie both of Indiana. Also surviving are sisters in law Lela Daniels and Jean Britt and brother in law Don (Teresa) Parmley.
Visitation is set for Friday, March 11, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:00 for family, and 11:00 am until the funeral at 1:00 pm at the Hicks Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be in the Parnell Baptist Church Cemetery.
